Celebrating Australia Day
January 26th is the day we Aussies love to celebrate. Australians around the world come together to celebrate who we are and what our nation stands for. What better excuse to get together with friends and family enjoying what it means to be an Aussie.
Fire up the Barbie
It’s a given that Aussies don’t need a reason to hold a BBQ but celebrating the birth of the nation isn’t a bad excuse really. Sausages (snags), steaks and prawns are the typical foods combined with lots of fresh salads.
Bring a Carton
It is customary when attending an Australia Day BBQ or any Aussie BBQ for that matter to bring a carton! A carton of beer that is. Your host usually has an esky or bathtub of ice to keep them cool!
A game of Cricket
It wouldn’t be Australia Day without the cricket! The TV is usually on all day in most Australian households and some sit and watch it but most tend to float in and out on their way to the BBQ or esky, just long enough to get an up to date score!
Let’s not forget too, if you have enough willing guests, a game of backyard cricket is always popular!
