Struggling mum wins US$188 million on US Powerball
Although it’s yet to be confirmed, a 26 year old North Carolina mother of four claims she has a winning US Powerball ticket for a massive US$188 Million.
Marie Holmes is a single mother, one of her children has cerebral palsy and she recently had to quit her jobs one at Wal-Mart, one at Mcdonalds, to better look after her three girls and a boy.
“I’ve been struggling since I had them but I wouldn’t trade nothing because they’re a blessing,” she said.
While she has yet to claim the jackpot, a reporter for a local TV station has tweeted a picture of the winning ticket and it looks genuine.
Marie doesn’t usually buy lottery tickets and only gets an entry when she can afford to. “When I heard how much the jackpot was I just decided to play.”
“I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I saw the ticket, and I’d actually checked it” Marie explained. “ I don’t think it’s really hit me yet, I guess when the money hits my account, that’s when it’s going to hit me, but I’m thankful that I can bless my kids with something that I didn’t have”.
“I don’t have to worry about the word struggle no more or neither do they … I’m ready to embrace the change. I’m very grateful for what’s about to happen for my family.”
She plans to buy a house for her family and set up accounts for her children’s college education.
“This is all for them. All the struggles that I went through, it was all for them. They don’t have to worry about debt, they can go to college… I’m glad that I can do that for them”.
The other winners from Texas and Puerto Rico have yet to claim their share of the unbelievable US$500 Million jackpot.
